Basketball Game Preview: St. Stephen's & St. Agnes Saints vs. Collegiate Cougars

St. Stephen's & St. Agnes is 1-6 against Collegiate since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The St. Stephen's & St. Agnes Saints will host the Collegiate Cougars at 5:45 p.m.

St. Stephen's & St. Agnes came up short against Episcopal on Friday, falling 63-43. While losing is never fun, the Saints can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 310th, while the Maroon are ranked 109th).

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Collegiate, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They came out on top against St. Catherine's by a score of 50-40 on Friday.

St. Stephen's & St. Agnes better focus on containing Clare Aman and Celie Shield as the pair were huge in Collegiate's win. Aman almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine boards, while Shield went 7 for 8 en route to 15 points and six rebounds. The contest was Aman's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Carly Barnes was another key player, putting up seven points.

This is the second loss in a row for St. Stephen's & St. Agnes and nudges their season record down to 1-10. As for Collegiate, their win bumped their record up to 7-8.

St. Stephen's & St. Agnes might still be hurting after the 57-37 defeat they got from Collegiate when the teams last played back in January of 2024.
