Baseball Game Preview: Elizabethtown Panthers vs. Larue County Hawks

The Elizabethtown Panthers will take on the Larue County Hawks at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Elizabethtown 3.7, Larue County 2.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.

On Monday, Elizabethtown earned a 5-2 win over Meade County. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.

Meanwhile, Larue County faced Campbellsville in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Hawks' pitcher stepped up to hand the Eagles a 6-0 shutout. The Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 17 games by six runs or more this season.

Not much got past Cole Miller, who gave up just four hits and racked up six Ks to keep Campbellsville off the board. Miller has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Lucas Thompson was excellent, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Dekker Thomas was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Larue County hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Campbellsville struck out six times.

Larue County has been performing well recently as they've won 13 of their last 16 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-6-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. As for Elizabethtown, their win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 25-10.
