Volleyball Recap: South Holt Extends Winning Streak to Three

South Holt proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by three) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a set and slipped past East Atchison [Tarkio/Fairfax] 3-2. The win was familiar territory for the Knights, who have now won three matches in a row.

South Holt took East Atchison [Tarkio/Fairfax] into a fifth set where they got it done with a three-point win. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-15, 23-25, 19-25, 15-12.

Jernie Morris had a dynamite game, getting 18 digs and three aces. Those 18 digs gave her a new career-high. Lexi VanHoutan also deserves some recognition as she had her first dig of the season.

They weren't the only good server: South Holt was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 11 aces in three consecutive games.

South Holt's record is now 4-6-1. As for East Atchison [Tarkio/Fairfax], they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8-1 record this season.

South Holt will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against North Platte at 5:30 p.m. on October 7. As for East Atchison [Tarkio/Fairfax], they will challenge Maysville at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
