Basketball Recap: Riverside Rangers vs. San Elizario Eagles

The Riverside Rangers entered their tilt with the San Elizario Eagles with 25 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 26. Riverside simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat the Eagles 52-24 at home. Riverside has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 18 matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Sophiya Bustillos continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 26 points and 4 assists. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed four or more in the last nine games she's played. Another player making a difference was Yazmin Rios, who scored 11 points along with five steals.

Despite the loss, San Elizario still got an impressive performance from Maya Contreras, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. That was a full 54.2% of San Elizario's points, marking the tenth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, San Elizario struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Riverside pulled down 12 offensive rebounds.

Riverside pushed their record up to 28-1 with that victory, which was their eighth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.1 points per game. As for San Elizario, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost eight of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-16 record this season.

Riverside does not have any more games scheduled as of now. San Elizario will head out on the road to square off against the Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
