Basketball Game Preview: Alexandria Cardinals vs. Fergus Falls Otters

Alexandria is a perfect 10-0 against Fergus Falls since February of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Alexandria Cardinals will host the Fergus Falls Otters at 7:00 p.m. Alexandria knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 28 games -- so hopefully Fergus Falls likes a good challenge.

Alexandria is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They blew past Detroit Lakes 96-53. The Cardinals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 21 contests by 21 points or more this season.

Alexandria can attribute much of their success to Chase Thompson, who went 13-for-16 en route to 32 points, and Mason Witt, who shot 60% from the field on his way to 32 points. Thompson's evening made it 13 games in a row in which he has scored at least 18 points. Talan Witt was another key player, shooting 64% from the field to rack up 16 points.

Meanwhile, Fergus Falls waltzed into their matchup on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They strolled past the Eagles with points to spare, taking the game 91-73.

Alexandria pushed their record up to 25-3 with the win, which was their 14th straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 39 points. As for Fergus Falls, their victory bumped their record up to 19-8.

Everything came up roses for Alexandria against Fergus Falls when the teams last played back in February, as the team secured a 92-64 win. Will Alexandria repeat their success, or does Fergus Falls have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
