Volleyball Recap: Bear River Bears vs. Mountain Crest Mustangs

Bear River was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mountain Crest Mustangs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in August.

Bear River started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-23, 25-18, 25-10.

Emry Evans paced Bear River's offense, picking up 13 kills. Evans got some help from Brynlee Garn and her 16 assists. Garn was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Mountain Crest's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ella Malm, who had 14 digs and two aces. That's the most aces Malm has posted over her last seven matchups. Another player making a difference was Jordan Belles, who had ten digs and two aces.

Bear River's loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Mountain Crest, their victory bumped their record up to 12-10.
