Basketball Recap: Lincoln Dean Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Lakewood

Cabrillo hadn't done well against Lakewood recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Cabrillo Jaguars came out on top against the Lakewood Lancers by a score of 69-59. This was a revenge game for the Jaguars: when they faced off against the Lancers back in December of 2024, they had to take a 73-56 defeat.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cabrillo to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lincoln Dean, who went 6 of 10 from beyond the arc en route to 23 points and five assists. The match was Dean's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Aden Jones was another key player, going 5 for 8 on his way to 17 points and five rebounds.

Cabrillo's victory bumped their record up to 12-9. As for Lakewood, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-10 record this season.

Cabrillo won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Jordan at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cabrillo is facing Jordan at the right time seeing as Jordan is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Lakewood, they will square off against Long Beach Poly at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Long Beach Poly will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Lakewood surely won't give up without a fight.
