Basketball Recap: Sutton Villa's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Provo over Mountain View

If Provo was feeling good fresh off their 60-24 takedown of Orem last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Provo Bulldogs took a 52-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mountain View Bruins on Friday. The game marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Provo lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Sutton Villa, who went 6-for-14 to rack up 13 points along with eight boards and five blocks. Villa is crushing it when it comes to blocks: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Izabelle Moyes was another key player, going 5-for-11 en route to 16 points.

Even though they lost, Provo was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mountain View only posted three assists.

Mountain View's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sienna Bramble led the charge by going 5-for-9 on her way to 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kimberlee Brown, who posted nine points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals.

Provo's loss dropped their record down to 20-3. As for Mountain View, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.

Looking ahead, Provo will face off against Jordan at 7:00 p.m. on February 14th. Jordan will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something Provo surely won't give up without a fight. As for Mountain View, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 43-35 win against Orem on the 11th.
