Baseball Game Preview: Aquinas Falcons vs. El Rancho Dons

The Aquinas Falcons will face off against the El Rancho Dons at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. Aquinas will be strutting in after a victory while El Rancho will be coming in after a loss.

Aquinas is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home on Saturday. They blew past Beaumont 16-1.

Gavin Egan was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Jonathan Tena was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Mason Greenhouse was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Aquinas always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Beaumont only posted an OBP of .222.

Meanwhile, El Rancho didn't have quite enough to beat Los Altos on Wednesday and fell 6-5.

Alexander Moraza and Alex Aparicio stepped up to the plate in a big way. Moraza scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Aparicio scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Aquinas took their win against El Rancho when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0. Does Aquinas have another victory up their sleeve, or will El Rancho turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
