Basketball Recap: Freeman Comes Up Short

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Freeman couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They were outmatched by the Viborg/Hurley Cougars and fell 72-44. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Flyers have suffered since January 3rd.

Despite the defeat, Freeman saw an underclassman step up: freshman David Walter went 5-for-11 to rack up 15 points. Walter has been hot for a while, having posted 15 or more points the last 14 times he's played. Tannen Auch also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Freeman moved to 19-5 with that loss, which also ended their six-game winning streak. As for Viborg/Hurley, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 24-2.

Freeman wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 52-44 win against Aberdeen Christian on the 21st. As for Viborg/Hurley, they have also already played their next contest, a 56-49 victory against St. Mary on the 21st.
