Baseball Recap: Hollins' Luck Changes for the Better on Monday

Hollins came into Monday's match having lost seven straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They had just enough and edged out the Northeast Vikings 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Royals have posted since March 7th.

Riley McDonald spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up ten Ks. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Hollins is 4-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 1-10 otherwise.

At the plate, Hollins saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Julian Rosario, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI. Rosario is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Aaron Anderson also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Hollins' win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 5-12. As for Northeast, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 9-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hollins will venture away from home to square off against Lakewood at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Northeast, they will head out to take on Dunedin at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
