Basketball Game Preview: Cannon Cougars vs. Charlotte Christian Knights

Cannon is 9-1 against Charlotte Christian since January of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Cannon Cougars will head out to challenge the Charlotte Christian Knights at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Cannon's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

On Friday, Cannon needed a bit of extra time to put away Covenant Day. They walked away with a 77-65 victory over the Lions.

Cannon can attribute much of their success to Kenan Dixon, who went 11 for 20 en route to 32 points and seven rebounds, and Sean Nix, who posted 25 points along with eight boards and four steals. The matchup was Nix's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Evan Ingram was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.

Meanwhile, after only 28 points in their last contest, Charlotte Christian made sure to put some points up on the board against Ben Lippen on Saturday. Charlotte Christian came out on top against Ben Lippen by a score of 78-70. The win was some much needed relief for the Knights as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Cannon is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 games, which provided a massive bump to their 10-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 90.9 points per game. As for Charlotte Christian, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-13.

Everything went Cannon's way against Charlotte Christian in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, as Cannon made off with an 83-62 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cannon since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
