Volleyball Recap: Artesia Comes Up Short

Artesia and St. Pius X squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Artesia had to settle for second. They lost 3-0 to the Sartans. The Bulldogs haven't had much luck with the Sartans recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Kailee Padilla paced Artesia's offense, picking up 11 kills. Padilla got some help from Kirklyn Miller and her 22 assists. Jenna Whitmire controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Leading St. Pius X to victory were Aliyah Lucero and Grace Grady. Lucero had five digs and four aces, while Grady had 11 assists and four digs. That's the most digs Lucero has posted since back in October.

Artesia's loss dropped their record down to 21-7. As for St. Pius X, the victory was the 18th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 23-3.

Artesia does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for St. Pius X, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Albuquerque Academy on the 15th.
