Baseball Game Preview: West Carroll War Eagles vs. Clarksburg Rockets

The West Carroll War Eagles will face off against the Clarksburg Rockets at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Having struggled with six defeats in a row dating back to last season, West Carroll turned things around against Clarksburg on Monday. Everything went their way against the Rockets as they made off with an 11-3 victory. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

Cole McMinn spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up 12 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on R.Q. Thompson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and one double. Those RBI were his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Eli Bryant, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

West Carroll's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Clarksburg, their loss was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-5.
