Football Recap: DuBois Takes a Loss

DuBois easily dispatched St. Marys last Friday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Beavers fell just short of the Punxsutawney Chucks by a score of 17-14 on Friday. The matchup marked the Beavers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

When it comes to explaining why DuBois lost, don't look at Trey Wingard. Despite the final result, he threw for 184 yards and two TDs, and also rushed for 64 yards on only five carries.

It was another big night for Jordan Rutan, who rushed for 166 yards and a pair of scores for Punxsutawney. Rutan's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 100 rushing yards.

The loss snapped DuBois' winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-2 record. As for Punxsutawney, they pushed their record up to 6-0 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. DuBois will head out to take on Connellsville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Beavers will be up against the Falcons' rather soft defense (which has allowed 36.67 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Punxsutawney, they will venture away from home to face off against Redbank Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
