Softball Recap: Falfurrias Comes Up Short

Falfurrias was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They fell 13-8 to the Miller Buccaneers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Fightin' Jerseys of the 13-3 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

Hayle Menchaca was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. What's more, she also racked up three RBI, the most she's had since back in February of 2024. Audrina Trevino was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Even though they lost, Falfurrias was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .353 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Falfurrias' loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Miller, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.

Coming up, Falfurrias will be playing in front of their home fans against King at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Miller, they will square off against Tournament Opponent at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
