Softball Recap: Jerome Tigers vs. Gooding Senators
Jerome had lost three straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped down to 7-10 to make it four. They came up short against the Gooding Senators, falling 18-10. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Senators this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-2 back in March.
As for Gooding, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by eight runs or more this season.
For Gooding's part, Kaylee Silver made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and five unearned) runs off ten hits. That's the most strikeouts Silver has posted since back in April of 2025. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Gooding got a massive performance out of Jaelynn Patton, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs. Kodi Garza was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Coming up, Jerome will head out on the road to face off against Twin Falls at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bruins have averaged an impressive 9 runs per game this season. As for Gooding, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 8-5 victory against Filer on the 22nd.
