Baseball Recap: Springport Continues Road Dominance on Thursday

Springport came out on top against Jonesville on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fourth inning. The Spartans took their game against the Comets 8-4. This was payback for the Spartans, who suffered a 12-3 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Springport saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bo Lightner, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Another was Gavin Lightner, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Springport pushed their record up to 7-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Jonesville, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Springport will face off against Bronson at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Jonesville, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against East Jackson at 4:00 p.m. The Comets are facing the Trojans at the right time seeing as the Trojans are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
