Basketball Game Preview: Meeker Cowboys vs. Olathe Pirates

Meeker is a perfect 8-0 against Olathe since December of 2014 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Meeker Cowboys will host the Olathe Pirates at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Meeker is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. Everything went their way against Cedaredge on Friday as Meeker made off with a 68-42 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Cowboys have posted since February 9, 2024.

Meeker's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tyler Sanders led the charge by going 7-for-17 to rack up 19 points. The dominant performance gave Sanders a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Drake, who went 7-for-14 en route to 16 points and five rebounds.

Meeker smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 7.9 offensive rebounds per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 13.2.

Meanwhile, Olathe was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They received a blow as they fell 70-56 to Gunnison.

Olathe's loss dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Meeker, their victory bumped their record up to 5-14.

Meeker skirted past Olathe 59-57 when the teams last played back in January. Does Meeker have another victory up their sleeve, or will Olathe turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
