Softball Recap: Urbana's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

Urbana came into Friday's match having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against the St. Thomas More Sabers by a score of 7-2 on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Tigers also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2023.

The team relied heavily on Kaya Hill, who went 1-for-3 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Baylee Russell, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 3-15. As for St. Thomas More, they are on a 14-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-14.

Urbana and St. Thomas More could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Tigers (ranked 490th) will meet Normal West (ranked 227th) at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, St. Thomas More will square off against Illinois Valley Central at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday with a big rank disadvantage (550 vs. 207).
