Baseball Game Preview: Delta Rabbits vs. South Summit Wildcats

Delta has gone a perfect 10-0 against South Summit recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Delta Rabbits are taking a road trip to face off against the South Summit Wildcats at 3:30 p.m. Delta is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.9 runs per game this season.

While Delta didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Everything went their way against Millard on Saturday as Delta made off with an 18-3 win. The victory continues a trend for the Rabbits in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won six in a row.

Delta got a massive performance out of Kyler Davies, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. Those four RBI gave Davies a new career-high. Kash Nielson was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Delta always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .656. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Millard only posted an OBP of .368.

Meanwhile, South Summit fell victim to South Sevier and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They came up short against the Rams, falling 17-0. The Wildcats haven't had much luck with the Rams recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

South Summit's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Delta, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.

South Summit's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Delta has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .514. It's a different story for South Summit, though, as they've only averaged .299. Will they be able to contain Delta's hitters?

Delta took their victory against South Summit in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 8-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for Delta since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
