Basketball Game Preview: Irwin County Indians vs. Charlton County Indians

Irwin County has gone 8-2 against Charlton County recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. Having just played yesterday, Irwin County will jump right back in to play Charlton County at 5:30 p.m. Irwin County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.4 points per game this season.

On Friday, Irwin County lost to Turner County on the road by a 53-39 margin. The Indians have struggled against the Titans recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Irwin County had strong showings from Sam Guy, who posted six points along with 13 boards and four blocks, and Jaylen Martin, who put up ten points. Guy has been hot for a while, having posted two or more blocks the last 15 times he's played.

Meanwhile, Charlton County ended up a good deal behind Clinch County on Friday and lost 63-48. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 434th, while the Panthers are ranked 166th).

Charlton County's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-19. As for Irwin County, their record is now 12-14.

Irwin County strolled past Charlton County when the teams last played last Friday by a score of 48-34. The rematch might be a little tougher for Irwin County since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
