Basketball Recap: Viera Snags Seventh Victory in Last Eight Games

Viera hadn't done well against Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Viera Hawks took down the Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy Tigers 73-57. Given the Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 114th, while the Tigers are ranked 255th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Despite the loss, Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jaylan Hall posted 17 points. Those 17 points gave Hall a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Otero, who put up 11 points.

Viera is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. As for Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy, they moved to 10-8 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Viera will face off against Palm Bay at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Viera has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy, they and The First Academy will face off at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday without much rest having both just played.
