Baseball Recap: Clever Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Clever entered their tilt with Pierce City on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 12-2 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Blue Jays also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2025.

Owen Graaf was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Graaf was even better at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Logan Vaught-Green was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Dyllan Martin, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Clever always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Clever's win bumped their record up to 16-10. As for Pierce City, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Clever will face off against Cassville at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.82 runs per game on average), something the Blue Jays will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Pierce City, they will square off against Southwest at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
