Mandeville typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Ponchatoula proved too difficult a challenge. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Mandeville Skippers 48-45. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 58-45 last Wednesday.

Mandeville's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Giulia Balbo, who went 5 of 9 on her way to 13 points, and Alanna Benoit, who posted eight points in addition to ten rebounds and six assists. Benoit is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Camryn Mahoney, who earned four points and seven rebounds.

The victory made it two in a row for Ponchatoula and bumps their season record up to 20-11. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.5 points over those games. As for Mandeville, their loss dropped their record down to 21-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ponchatoula will host Northshore at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mandeville, they will square off against Slidell at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mandeville is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54 points per game this season.
