Softball Game Preview: Central Cambria Red Devils vs. Susquenita Blackhawks

The Central Cambria Red Devils will take on the Susquenita Blackhawks at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Susquenita will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Central Cambria extended their winning streak to four on Wednesday. The Red Devils never let Greater Johnstown get on the board and left with a 15-0 win.

Rowyn Ruddek made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Ruddek was even better at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other pitching news, Aubrey Ruddek looked comfortable as she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Back at the plate, Kathryn Scott and Hayden Turner did most of the damage at the plate: Scott scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2, while Turner scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1. Turner also brought in an RBI, marking her first of the season. Katie George was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.

Meanwhile, Susquenita put their dominant pitchers on display in the team's fourth consecutive shutout on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by an 18-0 margin over Greenwood.

Susquenita's victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-0. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average this season. As for Central Cambria, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.
