Baseball Recap: University School Takes a Loss

University School has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging three runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Saturday. They fell just short of the Grove City Greyhounds by a score of 11-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Preppers have suffered since April 27, 2024.

Jack Nelson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one run. Deacon Nelson was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base.

This is the second loss in a row for University School and nudges their season record down to 21-5. Even worse, they were so close both times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.5 runs. As for Grove City, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. University School will challenge St. Ignatius at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Preppers 3, the Wildcats 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Grove City, they will take on Upper Arlington at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
