Baseball Game Preview: Bishop Moore Hornets vs. Lake Brantley Patriots

The Bishop Moore Hornets will challenge the Lake Brantley Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Bishop Moore came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Liberty, falling 12-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Hornets have suffered since March 26, 2024.

Bishop Moore saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jorge Palacio, who scored a run while going 1-for-1. Palacio also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Nick Wolsonovich was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in both of his plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Lake Brantley waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with ten straight wins... but they left with 11. They walked away with a 7-2 win over the Greyhounds.

Lake Brantley also got a great performance from Elijah Guzman as he pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. Guzman has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Cameron Penney was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Andrew Barr, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Lake Brantley pushed their record up to 13-3 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Bishop Moore, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-4.
