Football Game Preview: Harrisburg Bulldogs vs. Marceline Tigers

Harrisburg is 2-8 against Marceline since October of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on November 7. After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Harrisburg is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 50-6 victory over Linn. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Harrisburg's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Hunter Winscott, who gained 184 total yards and three touchdowns, and Rylee Robinson, who rushed for 79 yards and two scores on only seven carries. The dominant performance also gave Winscott a new career-high in rushing yards (138).

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Harrisburg was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 239 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Harrisburg's defense and their nine sacks. Jonathan Darwent led the group effort, picking up three of those sacks all by himself. Harrisburg is undefeated when Darwent posts one or more sacks, but 0-5 otherwise. The Bulldogs received some extra help from Robinson, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Meanwhile, the third road contest was the charm for Marceline, as they earned their first away victory of the season. They blew past Trenton, posting a 46-10 win. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by 25 points or more this season.

Marceline's victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-3. As for Harrisburg, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.

Harrisburg beat Marceline 28-20 in their previous matchup back in September of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
