Volleyball Recap: Kearns Comes Up Short

Kearns had lost six straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 1-8 to make it seven. They fell 3-1 to the Hunter Wolverines. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wolverines this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-2 back in March.

As for Hunter, the victory got them back to even at 9-9. Winning may never get old, but they sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Hunter can attribute much of their success to Mervyn Vera, who had 16 digs and two aces. The dominant performance also gave Vera a new career-high in assists (five). Tyce Randall-Umi also deserves some recognition as he had his first block of the season.

Kearns has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 defeat against Mountain Crest on the 18th. As for Hunter, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against West Jordan on the 22nd.
