Baseball Recap: Scotch Plains-Fanwood Picks Up Sixth Straight Win at Home

Scotch Plains-Fanwood made up a huge gap compared to their last game against New Providence, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Raiders were the clear victors by a 13-2 margin over the Pioneers on Thursday. The matchup marked the Raiders' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Scotch Plains-Fanwood got a great performance from Jack Byrne as he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. That's the most strikeouts Byrne has posted since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Alex Bolton was a standout: he scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Ronnie Germinder, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Scotch Plains-Fanwood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .476. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive contests.

Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average this season. As for New Providence, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.
