Basketball Recap: Isaiah Mcrae's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Latta over Carvers Bay

Latta lost against Carvers Bay back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Latta Vikings took a 61-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Carvers Bay Bears. The Vikings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Latta lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Isaiah Mcrae, who dropped a double-double with 20 points and ten boards. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in steals (four). Shayon Mcgruder was another key player, putting up 18 points.

Leading Carvers Bay to victory were Mekhi Bromell and Kenard Heyward. Bromell went 6-for-11 en route to 15 points and six rebounds, while Heyward posted 18 points and eight boards. Heyward's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Jamie Graham, who scored 12 points.

Latta's defeat dropped their record down to 10-13. As for Carvers Bay, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 17 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season.

Latta does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Carvers Bay, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 65-55 victory against Johnsonville on the 13th.
