The Red Bud Musketeers will square off against the Okawville Rockets at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Red Bud is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.
Red Bud had taken Chester down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Thursday. The Musketeers fell just short of the Yellowjackets by a score of 5-4. The match marked the Musketeers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Julia Ohlau spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on five hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, Ava Wagner made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.
Meanwhile, Okawville waltzed into their contest on Monday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They put the hurt on the Cardinals with a sharp 16-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Rockets, who have now won four matches by ten runs or more so far this season.
Kenley Hackstadt and Jaycie Buss did most of the damage at the plate: Hackstadt went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Buss went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, three doubles, and two RBI. Buss has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Going, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.
Okawville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .655. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Okawville's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Red Bud, their loss dropped their record down to 7-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Red Bud has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Okawville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Red Bud's way against Okawville when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Red Bud made off with a 16-4 victory. Do the Musketeers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rockets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
