Football Recap: Winston Academy Piles Up the Points Against Carroll Academy

After low-scoring totals in their previous five matchup, Winston Academy brought some dynamite into their most recent game. They breezed past the Carroll Academy Rebels to the tune of 40-13 on Friday. The Patriots' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Winston Academy was led to victory by Jonah Hood and Kingsley Ashford. Hood rushed for 118 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only eight carries, while Ashford picked up 100 receiving yards and two TDs. The dominant performance also gave Hood a new career-high in rushing touchdowns (two).

Winston Academy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jayson Mcmillin and Johnson Wykoff.

Winston Academy's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-6. As for Carroll Academy, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Looking ahead, Winston Academy is taking a road trip to face off against Lamar at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Carroll Academy, they will be playing at home against St. Joseph at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Rebels will be up against the Fighting Irish's rather soft defense (which has allowed 34.75 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
