Basketball Recap: Valor Preparatory Academy Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Victoria Brumbles and Kaizen Almanzar

After flying high against Carolina International last Friday, Valor Preparatory Academy came back down to earth. The Valor Preparatory Academy Owls took a 40-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Covenant Classical Warriors on Monday. The Owls have struggled against the Warriors recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Valor Preparatory Academy's loss came despite strong showings from Kaizen Almanzar and Victoria Brumbles. Almanzar posted 13 points, while Brumbles scored ten points. Those 13 points gave Almanzar a new career-high.

Covenant Classical's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Reece Morro led the charge by putting up 13 points in addition to five boards and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Rader, who almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds.

Valor Preparatory Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 2-15. As for Covenant Classical, their record is now 8-9.

Valor Preparatory Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 74-11 loss against Jackson Day on the 11th. As for Covenant Classical, they will welcome Socrates Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Covenant Classical is facing Socrates Academy at the right time seeing as Socrates Academy is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
