Baseball Recap: Newton-Conover's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Newton-Conover took a seven-run loss the last time they faced off against West Lincoln, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Red Devils skirted past the Rebels 4-2. This was a revenge game for the Red Devils: when they faced off against the Rebels back in March, they had to take a 9-2 defeat.

The win (which was Newton-Conover's fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-5. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for West Lincoln, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season.

Newton-Conover will head out to take on Bandys at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for West Lincoln, they will host Cherryville at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Ironmen's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Rebels' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
