Basketball Preview: Arrupe Jesuit Generals vs. Bruce Randolph Grizzlies
Arrupe Jesuit is 9-1 against the Grizzlies since February of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Arrupe Jesuit Generals will head out on the road to take on the Bruce Randolph Grizzlies at 6:00 p.m. Arrupe Jesuit has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Last Thursday, Arrupe Jesuit beat the Pirates 57-46.
Arrupe Jesuit's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Karen Alvarez led the charge by scoring 22 points along with six steals. Alvarez is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Atany Peter, who scored 17 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Bruce Randolph was just a bucket shy of victory on Saturday and fell 31-30 to the Pirates. Bruce Randolph has not had much luck with the Pirates recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Arrupe Jesuit's victory bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Bruce Randolph, their loss dropped their record down to 4-11.
Everything came up roses for Arrupe Jesuit against the Grizzlies in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 69-21 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Arrupe Jesuit since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
