Football Recap: Dundee-Crown Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Dundee-Crown extended their losing streak to five on Monday, dropping them down to 6-6. They had to suffer through a 41-0 loss at the hands of the St. Edward Green Wave. While losing is never fun, the Chargers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 136th, while the Green Wave are ranked 38th).

As for St. Edward, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-2 record this season. Considering they have won six games by more than 25 points this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

St. Edward's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sarah Gurley led the charge by throwing for 352 yards and three touchdowns while completing 80% of her passes, and also punching in one rushing score. Those 352 passing yards gave Gurley a new career-high. Another pass catcher making a difference was Layne Dawson, who picked up 57 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Coming up, Dundee-Crown will take on Crystal Lake Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers' defense has only allowed 12.9 points per game this season, so the Chargers' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for St. Edward, they will square off against St. Charles North at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Green Wave 7.1, the North Stars 6.6) so any points scored will be well earned.
