Recap: Atkins Camels vs. Parkland Mustangs
This season hasn't been kind to the Atkins Camels, who are still winless after their fifth game. They were just a bucket shy of victory on Monday and fell 42-41 to Parkland. That's two games in a row now that Atkins has lost by exactly a single point.
Atkins' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Princeton Scott, who scored 13 points. Those 13 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Kaleb Roope, who scored ten points.
Atkins bumped their record down to 0-5 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Parkland, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2.
Atkins won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Ben L. Smith at 8:00 p.m. on December 12th. Ben L. Smith knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four games -- so hopefully Atkins likes a good challenge. As for Parkland, they will head out on the road to face off against West Forsyth at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. West Forsyth will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
