Softball Recap: Greenfield Beats Marina for Their Third Straight Win

Greenfield got themselves on the board against Marina on Friday, but Marina never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Mariners with a sharp 25-0 win. The Bruins might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by 12 runs or more this season.

Chloe Zavala made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three stolen bases, and four runs. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game.

In other batting news, Ashely Zavala was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Natalie Soto, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and one double.

Greenfield lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

The victory was the third in a row for Greenfield, bringing their record up to 9-13. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Marina, their loss dropped their record down to 7-5.

Greenfield wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 21-10 defeat against Carmel on the 6th. As for Marina, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 10-9 loss against Pajaro Valley on the 7th.
