Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Smithson Valley). They snuck past the New Braunfels Unicorns with a 60-56 victory on Tuesday. That's more bragging rights for the Rangers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Smithson Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cyanna Cavazos led the charge by putting up 14 points. Isabelle DiMery was another key player, posting 12 points.

When it comes to explaining why New Braunfels lost, don't look at Alyana Mcgarity. Despite the final result, she went 8 of 15 on her way to 21 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Penelope Ruiz, who posted nine points.

Smithson Valley moved to 8-14 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for New Braunfels, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 13-11.

Smithson Valley will head out to face off against Wagner at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for New Braunfels, they will host Boerne-Champion at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. New Braunfels has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
