Baseball Recap: Carlin Comes Up Short

Carlin extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 31 on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 0-12 in the process. They came up short against the Wells Leopards, falling 18-8. The Railroaders were not able to make up for their loss to the Leopards from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

As for Wells, they pushed their record up to 14-3 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games.

For Wells' part, Michael Aguilar and Dentin Allen made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Aguilar tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Meanwhile, Allen struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off nine hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. At bat, Aguilar got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Allen got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Adam Eggleston was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Hall, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Wells beat Carlin by a score of 8-7 later that day.
