Preview: Randleman Tigers vs. Trinity Bulldogs
Randleman has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. After both having extra time off, the Randleman Tigers and the Trinity Bulldogs will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Friday, Randleman was able to grind out a solid win over Providence Grove, taking the game 59-48. Given Randleman's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 152nd, while Providence Grove is ranked 454th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Tyshaun Goldston, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. Another player making a difference was Pacey Wagner, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
Meanwhile, Trinity waltzed into their match last Wednesday with three straight wins but they left with four. They took down Providence Grove 77-63.
Trinity's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brandon Campbell, who scored 24 points along with five assists and two steals. Dominic Payne was another key contributor, scoring 24 points along with nine rebounds and five assists.
Randleman's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points per game. As for Trinity, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.
Randleman came up short against Trinity in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 61-55. Thankfully for Randleman, Dylan Hodges (who scored 19 points along with two steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
