Basketball Game Preview: Overland Trailblazers vs. Boulder Panthers

The Overland Trailblazers will challenge the Boulder Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing isn't great for Overland: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Boulder has snatched up four consecutive wins on the road.

Overland was handed a heart-breaking two-point defeat in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Smoky Hill on Saturday. Overland claimed a resounding 51-18 win over Smoky Hill. The Trailblazers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 26 points or more this season.

Ilaisaane Davis had a dynamite game for Overland, going 6-for-14 to rack up 16 points along with six rebounds and six steals. Overland is 9-4 when Davis posts three or more steals, but 4-6 otherwise. Joy Jamison was another key player, putting up six points.

Meanwhile, Boulder's game on Saturday was all tied up 25-25 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell just short of Legacy by a score of 55-52. The loss continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Lightning: they've now lost nine in a row.

Overland will have to contain Megan Matthews as she made an impact in Boulder's last game. She went 7-for-16 en route to 20 points and five assists. Matthews has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 12 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Lexi Oder, who went 5-for-9 on her way to 13 points in addition to six boards and three steals.

Boulder's defeat dropped their record down to 14-9. As for Overland, their victory bumped their record up to 13-10.

Overland strolled past Boulder when the teams last played back in December of 2015 by a score of 39-25. Does Overland have another victory up their sleeve, or will Boulder turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
