Baseball Game Preview: Bridgeport Indians vs. Frankfort Falcons

Bridgeport is on a six-game streak of home wins, while Frankfort is on a five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Indians will host the Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Bridgeport is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of West Virginia's top teams: Morgantown, who was ranked third at the time (Bridgeport was ranked sixth). The Indians were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Mohigans on Friday. Surprisingly, this marked the Indians' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Meanwhile, Frankfort won against Robert C. Byrd last Thursday with 15 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Falcons put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 15-5 victory.

Jaxon Hare spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered five earned runs on nine hits.

On the hitting side, Jacob Nething was incredible, going 5-for-6 with three runs, three doubles, and one stolen base. Those five hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Blake Jacobs, who went 3-for-5 with three runs and one RBI.

Frankfort was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matchups.

Bridgeport is on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 18 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for Frankfort, their victory bumped their record up to 20-7.
