Southern Maryland recap Nov. 7, 2012

Leonardtown scored a stunning upset when it knocked off Patuxent, 31-28. At the time, the Panthers were ranked 13th in the state, while the Raiders were 96th.

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Patuxent, who took down 13th ranked Patuxent, 31-28. Stephen Stewart ran for 202 yards in the win.

La Plata's dynamic duo of Alex Calvert and Dylan Turner proved tough for Chopticon to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Calvert threw for 370 yards and four touchdowns and Turner had 135 yards receiving. Jvon Simmons helped La Plata's passing attack out by catching three balls for 90 yards.

Kyle Barber was the most productive running back in Southern Maryland this week. He ran for 271 yards on 22 carries as the Braves lost to the Braves.

McDonough's Devone Boone and James Harrell have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Boone has thrown for 1324 yards this season, while Harrell has 41 catches for 901 yards. Leonardtown's Stewart leads the league in rushing yards with 1424.

The Rams' Harrell needs only 99 receiving yards against Gwynn Park to crack 1,000 for the season.

In 142 carries Kieron Morsell has accumulated 978 yard this year.

North Point was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after topping Westlake. The Eagles came in at 20 in the state poll after placing at number 27 last week.
