Baseball Game Preview: Willits Wolverines vs. Credo Gryphon

The Willits Wolverines will square off against the Credo Gryphon at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Willits has given up an average of 11.1 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Things were looking good for Willits after they put the first runs on the board on Monday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They came up short against Sonoma Academy, falling 16-6.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Credo's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell just short of Sonoma Academy by a score of 7-6.

Henry Humphreys put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Credo is 3-1 when Humphreys allows two or fewer hits, but 2-3 otherwise. Humphreys was even better at the plate, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-4.

Humphreys wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Thadeus Cole, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4. Cole has become a key player for Credo: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-3 otherwise.

Willits has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. As for Credo, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-4.
