Recap: Clarke Prep Gators vs. Bessemer Academy Rebels

This season hasn't been kind to the Clarke Prep Gators, who are still winless after their eighth game. They were the victim of a tough 51-31 defeat at the hands of Bessemer Academy on Friday. Clarke Prep has not had much luck with Bessemer Academy recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Bessemer Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kane Burns, who scored nine points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyseon Smith, who scored six points along with four steals.

Clarke Prep's loss was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-8. As for Bessemer Academy, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clarke Prep will take on Morgan Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Morgan Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 last Tuesday. Bessemer Academy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Lee-Scott Academy at 4:00 p.m. on January 13th. Lee-Scott Academy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
