Softball Recap: Hampton Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Hampton came into Tuesday's game having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They blew past the Happy Valley Warriors 16-6 on Tuesday. Considering the Bulldogs' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Lauren Smith made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hannah Smith, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Maleah Scalf also deserves some recognition as she scored her first runs of the season.

Hampton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .659. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2025.

Hampton picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 2-18. As for Happy Valley, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-17.

Looking ahead, Hampton will take on University School at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Buccaneers have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. Happy Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
