Basketball Recap: Elk Grove Comes Up Short

Elk Grove was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were beaten by the Hersey Huskies 51-20. While losing is never fun, the Grenadiers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 531st, while the Huskies are ranked 80th).

Elk Grove's loss dropped their record down to 3-20. As for Hersey, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Elk Grove will welcome Rolling Meadows at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Hersey, they will be playing at home against Waubonsie Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hersey is on a ten-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), Waubonsie Valley a five-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
